Sloppy Joes with Ground Turkey

I had ground turkey meat that needed to be used, but didn't have the ingredients I needed to make my Sloppy Jane recipe, so I threw together some simple ingredients to make Sloppy Joes. We didn't have regular buns, so we used flatbread sandwich buns, which worked just fine.

Sloppy Joes
Makes approx. 8 servings

1 tbsp. canola oil
1- 1 1/2 pound(s) ground turkey
1 onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic, minced
1 6 oz. can tomato paste (or 1 8 oz. can tomato sauce)
3 tbsp. dark brown sugar
1/4 cup BBQ sauce
1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

1. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Add the turkey, onion and garlic. Cook, breaking up the meat with a wooden spoon, until brown (about 3-5 minutes).
2. In a separate bowl, combine the tomato paste (or sauce), sugar, barbecue sauce and Worcestershire sauce. Pour into turkey mixture and season with salt and pepper.
3. Reduce heat and simmer until thickened (about 3-5 minutes).
