Giving Thanks

I thought it would be nice to periodically post things I'm thankful for, throughout the month of November. I can tell you right now I won't be consistent at posting everyday, so it'll be when I have the time to sit down and share it on here. Some things are more serious and sentimental, whereas others will be casual and random. Nevertheless, I have much to be thankful for. Not just brought to my mind in November, but with Thanksgiving approaching, it's the perfect time to reflect.

I am grateful for the fall season. It seems to bring a sense of hope with it. Watching the trees change colors, and seeing the leaves fall and blow in every path... It's a reminder that change is a natural part of life, and I look forward to it each year.

There are so many things I love during this time of year. Hot drinks, sitting by a fire, snuggling under a blanket with my love, baking, pumpkin/cinnamon/apple scents filling my home, scarves, boots, holiday decor, Christmas cups from Starbucks.... the list goes on. Now that I live in Oregon, I realize with Fall, it brings more rain than Fall in California, but I don't mind because there's so much I enjoy about this time of year.

My goal each year is to not allow stress of the holiday season get in the way of appreciating the beauty around me. So many of us get trapped in the last-minute tasks of the approaching holiday season, or preparing for guests arriving makes us crazy, or thinking of all the gifts we still haven't purchased for Christmas, we can't stop to enjoy this brief time of year. I want to live in the moment and breathe in the fresh air, give thanks for the people in my life and look forward to quality time spent with those people with the approach of Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Enjoy your fall season, wherever you live, and whatever kind of weather it brings you. Find the little things that make you happy, and revel in it while it lasts. :)
