The Impact of a Care Package

"A friend is one who strengthens you with prayers, blesses you with love and encourages you with hope".

Last weekend I opened my mailbox to find a huge surprise. Four of my close friends had rallied together and put together a care package for me. It was completely unexpected, and I am so very grateful. My family is going through a difficult time right now, with my dad being ill. To have my friends take the time (and money) to send me a package, with hand-written cards, meant the world to me.

It has been challenging to be away from so many of my friends and family, and it can feel lonely sometimes. However, my friends have done such a great job of making me feel thought of, cared for and supported, even as we're separated.

In the box, I opened cards from my girlfriends, and a couple gifts from each of them. Some aren't shown in pictures below, mostly because I already put them away or ate them! I love Cadberry Mini Eggs, and I couldn't resist opening the bag the same day. :) I also received earrings, nail decals and more candy. Below are the other things I opened in my care package...

Cards & pens the ladies sent (love pens!)

yarn & knitting needles

Onesie for Lil Man

Mug with my initial B & wall hook for Landon's room

Bracelet

* Each of my friends bought matching bracelets to wear. The note said this: "We will wear these bracelets to remind each other that our hearts are connected through prayer and love. When you look at your bracelet, remember you are never carrying your burdens alone; we are weeping with you. With all our lives being jam-packed with ups and downs, valleys and mountains, having friends that are by our side through all of life is a blessing from our Heavenly Father." I was so moved by this act of kindness, and words can't express the impact it had on me. I am blessed to have friends like these four beautiful women. Thank you Jesus.

It's amazing to see who stands by your side when you're going through some of the most difficult moments in life. To have your friends there for you when you may be at your lowest, or when you feel like you're not giving them your all.... those are the friends you want to hold on to forever. Those are the keepers for sure.

So to you lovely ladies, you know who you are.... THANK YOU. From the bottom of my heart. Not just for the thoughtful package and cards, but for your relentless support, prayers and encouragement. I thank God for blessing me with friends like you. Love you so so much.

  1. That's awesome! I don't know what your dad is going through, but know that I can totally understand having a sick dad. My dad went through cancer a few years back and it was the hardest time in my life. Please know that I will be praying for you!

  2. If any of your friends were going through something half as difficult as you are now, I know you would be on your knees for us, calling us, and texting us words of encouragement. It's just the kind of friend you are. I love you a lot. Think of you constantly, and am always praying. <3
