Happy New Year!

Hard to believe another year has come and gone already. Time is going by so quickly! I feel like time is slipping by more quickly now that I have a child too. Watching him grow and develop, and have his features changing so rapidly is making me wish I could slow time just a little!

I hope 2011 brought each of you many blessings that you can look back fondly on. I know I was incredibly blessed in 2011, but I was also greatly challenged as well. With challenges brings lessons though, and for those moments of learning and trusting and waiting, I grew a lot.

Some highlights from 2011:

Jan. 3 - Found out I was pregnant
Jan. 4 - My husband received a job offer from the Corvallis, OR Police Department
March 12 - We moved to OR
May 15 & 22 - celebrated my baby-to-be with dear friends and family and two amazing baby showers thrown for my little man
July 22 - My husband graduated from the police academy
August 15 - My parents moved down the street from us (they moved from WA to be closer to us and their first grandchild)
Sep. 1 - Celebrated 4 years of marriage with my sweet hubby
Sep. 8 - The day my precious baby boy was born!!!! And... my 26th birthday. :)

In the midst of all these blessings, we had challenging moments as well. My husband lost two grandparents in 2011, we had to give away our puppy, I left a great job in CA, we said goodbye to all of our family and friends for a place we knew little about and knew no one, and a few other unexpected things here and there. But I've learned the times we feel most conflicted, burdened, hard-pressed and unclear, we have the biggest opportunity to place our faith and trust not in ourselves, but in Christ. These are the moments He can use us the most. These are the moments we can walk confidently in His will for our lives, even if we're scared. Even if we have no idea what waits around the next corner for us. These are the moments that can change our lives... for the better.

I have set several goals for the new year, and I intend to achieve them. I encourage you to set a goal, or two, or three, or more. But make them reachable. May 2012 be a year of much success for you. May you reach out to others in ways you never have before. May you learn something you've always wanted to. May you challenge yourself to be more open-minded, step outside your comfort zone and become something more than you've been.

God bless you in this new year. We don't know what's ahead, but aren't you glad He has the whole world in His hands? I am!
